How to Eliminate Tartar and Plaque Build-up and Whiten Your Teeth Naturally!

Plaque forms on your teeth when you drink or eat beverages or foods high in starches or sugars because the bacteria release acids that damage your tooth enamel.

The plaque is too sticky, so that it can keep the acids in contact with your teeth. This could contribute to tooth enamel damage and tooth decay.

The build-up of plaque could also result in gum disease, including gingivitis characterized by swollen and tender gums that may bleed. In case it continues progressing, then it could cause severe periodontal disease.

Over time, plaque can turn into calculus, also referred to as tartar, which is hardened or calcified plaque that attaches to your tooth enamel and below your gum line.

That’s not all, inflamed gums and plaque or tartar build-up can do much more than affect your dental health.

Research has proven that inflammation and bacteria in the mouth could result in many other health problems, such as dementia, heart attack, etc.

Although the best way to get rid of tartar is to visit your dentist, you can also remove it by using the following method.

How to Remove Tartar at Home:

Things You Will Need:

  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Toothbrush
  • Dental pic
  • Cup
  • Water
  • Salt
  • Baking soda
  • Antiseptic mouthwash

Baking soda is the most effective ingredient when it comes to eliminating plaque.

How to Do It:

Put 1 tbsp. of baking soda and ½ tsp. of salt in a cup. Combine the ingredients together until you create a well-blended mixture. Next, wet your toothbrush with warm water and then dip it into the mixture. Scrub your teeth for 5 minutes and then spit it out.

Afterwards, put ½ cup of warm water and a cup of hydrogen peroxide in a bowl. Mix the ingredients together and use the mixture to wash off your mouth for 60 seconds. Next, spit it out. Then, use ½ cup of cold water to wash off your mouth.

You should rub the yellow tartar by using a dental pick. But, make sure not to scrape your gums as it might result in damage and irritation.

Rinse your mouth with antiseptic mouthwash. You can repeat the same procedure every second day.

Other Important Tips:
  1. Brush your teeth with a soft brush. You should do it with vertical movements, but be careful with the space between your teeth and gums.
  2. Floss your teeth regularly.
  3. Eating spicy foods can stimulate your salivary glands. This means that you should eat spicy foods to get your mouth cleaned by saliva.
  4. Before bedtime, rub your teeth with orange peel because it helps destroy harmful mouth bacteria. Avoid washing it off.
These Foods Can Improve Your Oral Health

– Cheese

Eating Swiss cheese and cheddar helps neutralize the acids that lead to plaque build-up. You should consume the cheese before your meals for best results. Moreover, an ingredient present in aged cheese serves as a barrier agent.

– Tomatoes and Strawberries

Tomatoes and strawberries abound in vitamin C, which makes them an excellent tool for good dental health. All you need to do is put them on your teeth and allow them to act for about 5 minutes. This helps soften the tartar build-up.

Then, simply wash off your mouth with a solution of warm water and baking soda. Plus, you can also use other foods that are high in vitamin C like lemons, oranges, berries, papayas, and bell peppers.
