A great number of people suffer from joint pain, which is typically caused by rheumatoid arthritis, gout, osteoarthritis, injury, and more.
While ginger, garlic, honey and turmeric are popular anti-inflammatory remedies that can alleviate pain, gelatin is a less-popular natural remedy that can also provide pain relief.
In addition, gelatin is the collagen extracted from animal skin, bones, and tendons. Moreover, vegan types of gelatin are made from seaweed, such as agar agar; or carrageenan such as cooked and pressed algae.
Although the vegan “gelatin” has the same texture for cooking, it does not have the same pain-relieving properties. So, we use gelatin from pigs or bovine animals in this recipe.
Gelatin Provides Joint Pain Relief
Gelatin is an odorless, clear, and tasteless ingredient, making it an excellent addition to many recipes. Keep in mind that the chemical- and sugar-rich variety that comes in convenient, colorful small boxes does not provide any of these health benefits.
Moreover, organic, unflavored gelatin provides numerous health benefits because of its high collagen and protein content.
Both elements are necessary for healthy bones. Namely, collagen is structural protein as well as the most abundant protein in your body. It helps connect everything together. This type of protein is present in your connective tissues, hair, bones, and skin. One tbsp. of gelatin possesses 6-12 g of protein.
Your body can easily absorb the collagen found in gelatine and add it to your own supply.
Additionally, gelatin provides joint pain relief in 2 ways by building strong bones and increasing your collagen levels to support connective tissue. That’s not all, gelatin also possesses chondroitin, i.e., a chemical present in cartilage, which improves absorption of moisture into the fibers to keep mobility and flexibility.
Many studies have shown that using collagen in the treatment of osteoporosis and osteoarthritis could lubricate and strengthen the connective tissue of joints, thus relieving pain.
It is important to know that it may take a couple of months for your body to absorb the collagen from gelatin. Specifically, the journal Complementary Therapeutic Medicine Given published a study that observed the joint pain levels of the subjects at 3 and 6 months after taking collagen supplements. There was not actually any difference between the group that took collagen supplements and the control group after 3 months.
But, there was a great difference between these groups after 6 months. The group that took collagen supplements experienced a dramatic decrease in their joint pain compared to the control group.
Here is a natural pain relief remedy that contains gelatin (fights joint pain); honey (has powerful anti-inflammatory properties); raisins (abound in iron); and seeds (rich in minerals, fiber and healthy fats for optimal bone health.)
- 2 tbsp. of organic, unflavored gelatin
- 3 tbsp. of pumpkin seeds
- 4 tbsp. of sesame seeds
- 8 tbsp. of flaxseeds
- ¾ cup of raw, organic honey
- 3 tbsp. of raisins
The only thing you should do is mix the ingredients until you get a homogenous mixture. Keep it in a glass jar at room temperature.
Take 1 tsp. of the remedy 2 times per day, before your breakfast and lunch.
