Joint pain can be triggered by injury that affects any of the tendons or surrounding the joint. Also, it can be caused by rheumatoid arthritis, uric acid crystals, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and so on.
This type of pain can actually range from mildly irritating to debilitating joint pain. Furthermore, it can disappear after several weeks or last for up to a few weeks or months. The first is known as acute joint pain, whereas the latter is called chronic joint pain. Unfortunately, even short-term joint pain can negatively affect your life quality.
You most probably know that ginger, turmeric, garlic, and honey are powerful anti-inflammatory agents that can help alleviate joint pain. However, there is also a less-known natural remedy such as gelatin that can significantly lower your joint pain.
How Does Gelatin Reduce Joint Pain?
Gelatin is actually the collagen derived from animal skin, tendons, and bones. In addition, vegan versions are also available, but they are created from cooked and pressed algae called agar agar or seaweed known as carrageenan.
It is important to know that the vegan gelatin doesn’t offer the same healing properties as the animal gelatin. In the recipe below, we use gelatin derived from pigs or bovine animals.
In addition, many experts believe that gelatin has an ability to strengthen bones and joints as a result of its high amount of collagen. Collagen is structural protein that naturally makes up cartilage and bone. This element is present in bones, connective tissues, skin, and even hair. Moreover, 1 tablespoon of gelatin possesses 6-12 grams of protein.
The best part of this is that the human body is able to absorb the collagen from gelatin.
To be more specific, gelatin can alleviate joint pain because it strengthens the bones and improves your own collagen levels, thus supporting connective tissues. The chondroitin found in gelatin is also a chemical present in cartilage that enhances moisture absorption into the fibers, thus promoting good flexibility and mobility.
According to many studies, the human cartilage can absorb the collagen from gelatin, thus offering beneficial effects in the treatment of osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. In other words, it lubricates and strengthens the connective tissue in the joints and relieves pain.
However, the body starts absorbing the collagen from gelatin after a few months. Namely, in 2012, the journal Complementary Therapeutic Medicine published a study confirming that joint pain sufferers who took collagen supplements experienced significant relief after 6 months compared to the control group.
Additionally, here is a delicious gelatin remedy made from several natural ingredients. The gelatin found in the remedy can alleviate your joint pain; seeds are packed with healthy fats, fiber, and minerals that can support your bone health; honey acts as a natural anti-inflammatory agent; and raisins are rich in iron.
